VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Happy Hippo Kindergarten and Childcare, reconciliation is at the heart of our philosophy and daily practice. We believe that genuine reconciliation begins with respect, acknowledgment, and action, walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a shared commitment to understanding, inclusion, and healing.  Our vision is to create a culturally safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories are recognised, valued, and respected. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn, and grow, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present.   Our teaching team is dedicated to a continuous journey of learning,  unlearning and relearning, deepening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives and embedding these authentically into our programs, environments, and relationships. Through child-centred practice, cultural inclusion, and intentional teaching, we ensure that First Nations peoples perspectives are woven meaningfully into everyday learning,.   We are proud to stand as a service that values connection, respect, and belonging, where children, families, and team members feel seen, safe, and supported. Our commitment to reconciliation guides our actions, shapes our curriculum, and strengthens our partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.   Together, we are working towards a future where reconciliation is not only acknowledged but it is lived, practiced, and celebrated in everything we do. We are committed to walking together in the spirit of reconciliation and respect, honouring the stories, knowledge, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as we continue to learn, grow, and build a shared future.
