Our vision for reconciliation at Aldinga Kinder Haven is children, families and the wider community to feel culturally safe when in our centre, ensuring they feel seen and represented throughout our programs, acknowledgement, resources and everyday practices.
As educators, we have a responsibility to educate not only ourselves but the children in our centre of the true histories of Australia and the cultures, beliefs and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, and we respectfully include First Nations perspective in our teaching, learning and our everyday practices, providing opportunities for the children to learn and speak Kaurna language.
