Here at Goodstart East Sydney, our journey toward reconciliation starts with acknowledging Australias colonial history and the intergenerational trauma that it has had, and continues to have, on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our commitment to reconciliation stems from a professional and personal commitment to raise awareness about the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures in our learning community. Through this commitment, our team will continue to foster a shared understanding of what it means to create culturally safe and inclusive environments, as well as creating learning environments that acknowledge the significant and personal connections that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people share with the land, sky, water and family. To support our vision of creating a culturally safe and inclusive environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, children and families, we strive to include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives as the heart of our curriculum and allow our educators to engage in professional training to shape their confidence and understanding.
