VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Goodstart Parmelia, our vision for reconciliation is grounded in truth-telling, cultural humility, and a shared responsibility to create a fair and just future for all children. We acknowledge the enduring strength, knowledges and custodianship of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of this land, including the Noongar peoples on whose Country we live, learn and work.

We recognise that reconciliation is not a destination but a continuous process of listening, learning, and action. We are committed to confronting the ongoing impacts of colonisation and systemic disadvantage, and to dismantling barriers to genuine inclusion. This commitment includes actively addressing the developmental vulnerabilities experienced by First Nations children in our community, as highlighted in the AEDC 2024 data for Kwinana.

Our vision is to create a culturally safe, welcoming, and empowering early learning environment where all children thrive in their identity, wellbeing, and belonging. We do this by building meaningful, reciprocal relationships with local Aboriginal Elders, families and community members, embedding First Nations perspectives into our daily practice, and upholding the voices, rights and agency of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

We uphold equity as a collective responsibility and stand together for a no-shame culture where all children, families and educators feel safe, seen, and celebrated. We honour the past, act with integrity in the present, and strive for a reconciled future grounded in truth, respect and partnership.
