Flinders Children’s Centre and Tji Tji Wiltja Preschool is located on Bungala Land in the Mid North, Spencer Gulf region. Our vision for reconciliation acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of this nation. We recognise this Land as a significant meeting place where First Nations groups have gathered for generations to meet, exchange, trade, and conduct important ceremonies.
Reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires truth-telling, reflection, and meaningful action. We acknowledge the injustices and inequalities Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have faced since colonisation and recognise their strength, resilience, and knowledge. To move forward, we must accept the past and ask: What will we do to contribute to reconciliation?
At Flinders Children’s Centre and Tji Tji Wiltja Preschool, we recognise children as capable citizens and believe in being open and honest about the true histories of Australia and the ongoing impacts since colonisation on First Nations peoples We provide opportunities to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in an authentic, respectful, and meaningful way.
We are committed to building strong relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, including past, present, and future families of our preschool. We strive to provide a culturally safe and inclusive space for Elders, Traditional Owners and community members We acknowledge that reconciliation is a continuous process, and we remain dedicated to embedding it in our curriculum and practices, respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and perspectives in all aspects of our preschool.
