At Unley Early Learning Centre, reconciliation means coming together to give appropriate, and deserved, recognition to the true histories of Australia. We are committed to acknowledging, teaching, unlearning and relearning, informing, and sharing Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes peoples’ contributions and perspectives. It means acknowledging past events and being intentional about doing better than those before us in our commitments to reconciliation. We respect Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes Peoples, understanding that First Nations perspectives, views, beliefs, and knowledge are unique and invaluable. Reconciliation at Unley Early Learning Centre respectfully enbeds Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes perspectives through our curriculum, learning experiences, environment, and intentional teaching. We provide a diverse, non-bias, harmonious approach to learning and play, andwe collectively believe that a reconciled Australia looks like a society of equality and equity where Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes People experience equality and equity in educational outcomes, and it is a place where there is no division. It is having an understanding and respect for the Land and looking after the environment for future generations. We envision a future where the children we teach reflect these beliefs and commit to ensuring necessary steps are taken so children, families, and staff are culturally aware and take accountability for their learnings. We stand in solidarity with Aboriginal and Zenadth Kes Peoples and are committed to sharing and embedding their culture at Unley ELC, so the children grow up with respect, appreciation, and knowledge of the oldest cultures in the world.
