VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Goodstart Early learning Glenelg recognises and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and as the Traditional Custodians of the Lands on which we teach and learn. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures as enduring, living cultures. We respect and value the cultural insights that we will gain as we establish strong links between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, our centre and the children, families and communities with whom we work.  We believe a reconciled Australia is a place where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are respected and where our community is culturally safe place where people have a strong understanding of the past.   We believe we promote reconciliation through sharing our knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives with children, families and the wider community. We will respectfully engage with local Elders and the First Nations community ensuring that we are building a trusting and respectful partnership. We believe in being open to new learning, knowledge and understanding of the past and Aboriginal cultures.
