Reconciliation can only be achieved once all peoples are positioned equally and equitably on the playing field. As such, our community recognises that reconciliation is a journey without an endpoint and must be continually worked towards. Bald Hills State School is committed to empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and members of the community through our school communitys Turrwan Circle that is comprised of passionate school and community people. This groups vision is to achieve excellence and empowerment for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait children and families. To achieve this vision we will actively promote cultural awareness within our community through professional development and provide opportunities for our whole community to participate in the reconciliation process. We will use empowering language that includes and demonstrates respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. We will develop deep and authentic connections and relationships of trust between local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and non-Indigenous staff, families, and community members. We aim to see improved equal and equitable opportunities for all students, as well as a shared pride in the particular place of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students cultures within our school community. Cultural well-being is a priority in creating this safe space and reconciled unity among all members of our school community.
