Our vision for reconciliation is an environment where all Australians, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, are acknowledged and respected. We continue to deepen our understanding of the significance of reconciliation across our centre and into the local community, ensuring that each educator is confident in acknowledging and discussing the importance of our journey. By creating a culturally safe and inclusive space for all, we support educators, leadership, and children to explore and learn about the histories and cultures that have shaped our identity in Australia, and in turn foster empathy, respect, and connection.
We recognise the importance of respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait peoples’ perspectives into our daily practice, ensuring that reconciliation is not just a box we check, but an ongoing experience for all to take part in. We will provide the wider community with the opportunity to develop strong understandings of First Nations peoples’ cultures from an early age, providing space to unlearn and relearn. We continue to promote a sense of belonging for all children, educators, and families, and strive for everyone to feel safe and represented. We will ensure we are adaptable, collaborative, and reflective in this space in order to achieve our reconciliation goals.
Through reconciliation, we aspire to have an ongoing, collective commitment to reconciliation, where every team member has the opportunity to reflect on their own learning journey and contribute to the change we are making. We hope to achieve unity within our team and broader community, and ensure our centre is a place of respect, understanding, and support in every interaction. We strive to provide a nurturing environment where the new generation of children is not only informed but also inspired to carry forward the values of inclusivity and reconciliation.
