At Mildura Central Early Learning Centre, we are committed to walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on a shared journey toward reconciliation. We recognise the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the rich histories, cultures, and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, especially the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we work, learn, and play.
We strive to build genuine, respectful, and reciprocal relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. These connections help guide our practices and ensure that our learning environments reflect and honour the voices, knowledges, and cultures of First Nations peoples.
Through a culturally responsive curriculum, we aim to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across all aspects of our teaching, wellbeing practices, and physical spaces. Our centre philosophy promotes respect for Country, community, and culture, and encourages children to develop a deep and lasting connection to the Land and its First Peoples.
We acknowledge the Latji Latji, Barkindji, Kureinji, and Ngiyampaa peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land we are on, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. As educators, we understand that reconciliation is a responsibility shared by all. Through learning, truth-telling, and inclusive practice, we aim to create a future of equity, respect, and unity for all Australians.
