VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Apollo Bay Kindergarten, reconciliation is woven into the heart of our community and educational journey. We actively foster an inclusive, respectful, and culturally diverse environment that celebrates the diverse cultures, histories, and rich contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we embed reconciliation into every aspect of our programguiding our decisions, shaping our learning spaces, and enriching our relationships. We empower children, educators, and families with knowledge and appreciation of First Nations cultures through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences. These include daily Acknowledgments of Country, seasonal learning guided by the Eastern Maar calendar, Wayapa Wuurrk movement practices, and cultural storytelling and art inspired by First Nations artists. Our Bush Kinder excursions deepen childrens connection to Country, where they learn about middens, language, and traditional practices through hands-on exploration and community-led ceremonies. We stand together in the spirit of reconciliationacknowledging the past, healing the present, and building a more inclusive future. Our children grow up with a strong foundation in respect, cultural responsiveness, and a passion for equity and justice. Through our RAP, we walk the path of reconciliation with sincerity and shared responsibility, strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community. In doing so, we contribute to a more harmonious and equitable society for all.
