Monash Vale Early Learning Centres vision for reconciliation is an Australia that embraces and celebrates the knowledge, traditions, ceremonies, cultures, and languages of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, which have flourished for over 60,000 years. We are committed to creating a culturally responsive and safe environment where First Peoples ways of knowing, doing and being are respected, celebrated and embedded in the lived actions of everyone in our community. Reconciliation at Monash Vale is not just a vision, it is something we live each day as a community of learners with children, families, educators, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and Elders walking together in respect, trust and truth.Â
Our journey involves embedding true histories and engaging in truth-telling, while actively listening to and valuing the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. We strive to continue learning about current issues and to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, building reciprocal relationships with the local Boonwurrung community and honouring their knowledge and leadership.Â
As part of our commitment to reconciliation, we continue to provide opportunities for all children, families, teachers and educators to deepen their knowledge and understanding of First Peoples histories and cultures within the context of our community. We believe in sharing our reconciliation journey with other early learning communities, fostering deeper understanding and commitment beyond our own service. Through ongoing unlearning and relearning, we aim to ensure that reconciliation is embedded in every aspect of our curriculum and practice.       Â
