At Community Kids Haven Hillside, we believe that reconciliation is about the future whilst acknowledging and addressing past and present injustices faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples since colonisation. This involves understanding the significance of First Peoples and their cultures, contributions, histories, perspectives, and aspirations through respectful consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We aim to deepen our understanding and engage meaningfully with First Nations perspectives, fostering harmonious coexistence between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader Australian community. A reconciled Australia is one where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians collaborate in a spirit of trust and openness, working together to achieve equality, equity, justice and unity.
