Goodstart Deer Park recognises the heritages and traditions of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge the rich cultural histories of Lands across Australia and will teach the truths of these histories, and our nations shared history since colonisation, to our children.
Our vision is for the children at our service to understand that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples represent the nations First Peoples and that First Peoples traditions, knowledges and wisdom are important to all that live here. We acknowledge the children of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the future and acknowledge Elders past and present. We recognise that early learning is a pathway to a reconciled nation. We will teach the children the truths about the shared history of our nation since colonisation and acknowledge the nations First Peoples as the custodians of the Lands on which we learn and play. We will support children to understand how, as a nation, we can foster equality and equity between the nations First Peoples and the people who now share the Land with them.
