At Carmody Drive Kindergarten we value and respect all the children and their families who form our kindergarten community and welcome them into our reconciliation journey. We want everyone to feel they can safely share their culture as part of our educational program. Â Â We are committed to the cultural safety of every child, educator and family member attending our kindergarten. We support the rights of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples including their right to self-determination. We believe that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people deserve respect and dignity. Â Â Our ongoing hope and commitment is to educate ourselves as well as the children and the families of the Carmody Drive Kindergarten community about the long-standing histories and contributions made by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the First Peoples of Australia, and in particular the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, Custodians of the Land upon which we work, play and learn. Â Â As new educators join our team, they are educated to understand the concept of reconciliation and its importance in the education context. Â They participate in professional development and are assigned tasks to develop their knowledge so that we have consistency across the whole team. We are all aware this is an ongoing commitment as reconciliation is not static. Â Â As each year passes, we continue to extend our knowledge, confidence and connections. Â Â Â Â Â
