VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At EMPOWER we are dedicated to creating a culture that is respectful and inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as we work towards reconciliation. We connect our vision to the five dimensions of reconciliation, as well as our own philosophy that reflects our core values of Relate, Respect, and Reflect. We are also informed by the Child Safe Standards, UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, EYLF V.O 2 and National Quality Standards when planning, implementing and reflecting on our Reconciliation Action Plan. We will continue to ensure that Educators:

think deeply about the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and critically reflect on their own biases and understandings to enhance personal development.

are committed to engaging in professional development to enhance our cultural responsiveness and improve practices.

reflect on the histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and acknowledge the truths of our shared history since colonisation.

build awareness of current issues and our responsibility as an educational institution to promote social justice.

We acknowledge that educators, children, families and local community are all a part of our RAP and strive to ensure actions are based on collaboration and partnership.  EMPOWER strives to build relationships with our local community and establish strong collaborative partnerships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We aim to build a culture and environment that is proud of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and is a safe place, free from prejudice. We are always working towards providing equality and equity and actively critically reflecting on our practices in order to ensure we are embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives with respect. We will continue to work to ensure all children and families are included, value inclusion, and value diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
