VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Explore and Develop Penrith’s vision for reconciliation is deeply rooted in equity, equality, inclusion, and anti-bias. We acknowledge the injustices that have occurred since colonisation and recognise the impact they continue to have on the relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our commitment is to foster a future that is positive, respectful, and collaborative.

We are proud to continue our journey of reflection, learning, and meaningful action through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Our reconciliation efforts have evolved beyond acknowledgments into sustained, active engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through ongoing education, relationships, and advocacy, we strive to ensure that reconciliation is not just a statement but a lived experience within our service.

As we continue our reconciliation journey, we remain committed to embedding cultural safety at the heart of our practice. We are dedicated to creating an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and community members feel a deep sense of belonging, respect, and trust. Our approach extends beyond symbolic gestures to actively listening, learning, and engaging in meaningful partnerships.

We understand that reconciliation is a continuous process—one that challenges us to grow, reflect, and adapt. We strive to be a safe space where all children and families can express their identities with a feeling of safety and security, fostering a deep respect for the diverse cultures of First Nations peoples. We will continue to uphold our commitment to learning, sharing, and fostering genuine relationships that are rich in knowledge and free from bias or tokenism.

We appreciate the opportunity to strengthen our vision and will continue to uphold our responsibility in advocating for cultural safety, mutual understanding, and a future built on respect and inclusion.
