At Southern Highlands Early Childhood Centre, we strive to create an environment that is safe, welcoming and engaging for everyone who enters. Our centre is part of the Southern Highlands community and is located on the Traditional Land of the Gundungurra people. This Land has a rich and diverse cultural heritage of which we are very proud. Â Â Our philosophy is grounded in respect between families, educators, children and the wider community. We believe that fostering respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is foundational to our reconciliation journey. Â We connect to the wider community, inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and enhance our understanding of First Nations peoples and cultures through shared learning, storytelling and experiences that deepen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' perspectives, histories and experiences. Â We recognise that reconciliation is a lifelong journey of learning, reflection and action. We are committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our everyday practices and environment, ensuring culture is visible, valued and celebrated. Â Â Through meaningful engagement with local Elders and community members, we aim to strengthen partnerships that guide and inform our curriculum and foster a deep sense of belonging for all families and children. Â We continue to enhance our knowledge and understanding of the true histories of Australia and drive reconciliation through education, respect and shared action. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
