VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. At Robertson Community Preschool our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that actively embraces unity and respect between First Nations peoples and the wider Australian community. To achieve this, our staff along with the children and families in our service, are committed to learning as much as we can about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples true histories, cultures, stories, traditions and connections with Lands, Waters, and communities. By continually developing a better understanding of, and respect for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives and cultures, we will enrich our appreciation of First Nations peoples cultural heritages. This will allow current and future generations to develop an understanding of our nations true history and move towards a stronger future of reconciliation that is based on trust, respect and unity.   Through our shared learning with children, we are committed to promoting and embedding genuine respect for the Traditional Custodians of the Land, on which we live, work and play, the Gundungurra People. We will continue to work towards building strong partnerships with community, including through collaborations with local schools and community groups to support our ongoing journey towards reconciliation. We recognise that long-term reconciliation requires furthering our learning about, and understanding of, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures and ways of knowing, doing and being.
