VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

We, at Helensburgh Community Preschool, proudly walk towards reconciliation and respect and acknowledge the Wodi Wodi people of the Dharawal Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn, play and grow. Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that embraces unity, equality, equity, dignity and respect towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

As Educators, we are committed to ongoing learning of First Nation Peoples' cultures, traditions, histories and continuing contributions. We strive to respectfully embed our learnings into the service through the sharing of knowledge in programs, community engagement, and in our interactions with children.

We acknowledge the past, and the ongoing trauma impacting the Traditional Custodians of the Lands, and through education, we believe in working together with children, families and wider community, to drive reconciliation and empower future generations.

We will continue to ensure we create a welcoming and culturally responsive environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to feel safe, secure, and respected. As a community, we believe that we each must engage in truth telling and social advocacy to ensure all children have the best opportunities in life.
