Maitland Community Preschool acknowledges the Wonnarua people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn, and play. We honour and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and custodians of the world’s oldest living cultures. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and contributions are recognised, respected, and embedded in our daily practices. Through meaningful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and communities, we seek to learn from true histories and diverse perspectives to guide and enrich our curriculum and teaching. Our educators actively engage in ongoing professional learning to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, histories, and worldviews. Maitland Community Preschool will regularly reflect on this vision and continue to embed our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) throughout our service as we walk together towards a more just, equitable, and reconciled future.
