Reconciliation is about acceptance and valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories in our everyday practices. It is about showing our appreciation of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and perspectives and teaching our children and community about the importance of appropriately incorporating these rich and diverse cultures in our everyday practices. It is about valuing everything Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people generously share with us, their knowledge, histories and the opportunity to care about the Land we stand on today. Our vision for reconciliation is a community that embraces unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians, and a shared national culture that represents equality and equity, historical acceptance of our shared histories and removal of negative race relations. Reconciliation must live in our hearts, minds and actions as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.Â
