At Maroubra Kinder Haven, we walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with respect, truth, and kindness. Our vision is to build a future where all children, families, and educators learn from and celebrate the strengths, wisdom, and cultures of First Nations peoples. We believe reconciliation is grounded in deep, ongoing, and meaningful relationships between First Nations peoples and the broader community. We are committed to learning and sharing the true histories of this Land, while listening to and honouring the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members. We want every child to grow up knowing that this Land always was, and always will be, Aboriginal Land, and to respect the oldest continuing culture in the world. We recognise the importance of respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives throughout our curriculum, environments, relationships, and daily practices. In doing so, we honour the strength, resilience, and wisdom of the world’s oldest living cultures, while helping shape a future where every child grows up with knowledge, empathy, and pride in the shared heritage of this Country. In our little community by the sea, we know that learning begins with respect—respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, respect for Country, and respect for one another. Our educators, families, and children are on a shared journey that celebrates the diversity of First Nations peoples, encourages curiosity, and nurtures understanding. We are guided by hope for a more just, inclusive, and united future—one where all children can thrive, knowing that their stories, languages, and connections matter. Together, we promise to keep learning, growing, and creating a culturally safe and welcoming space for all.
