VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

We acknowledge all First Nations peoples, and commit to  our reconciliation journey. We acknowledge the true histories, lived experiences of First Nations peoples in the present and building  an equal and equitable future as we strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people.

We will build community, serve others and act as stewards of creation. We live and learn in the Way of the Cross, striving for reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

RELATIONSHIPS We actively respect that; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold  unique knowledges and understandings of the world. We honour their wisdom, cultural and spiritual perspectives, diversity and strong connections to the lands, seas and waterways. We strive to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives into our curriculum and daily practices to empower our students to connect with their own stories, traditions and cultures whilst strengthening respectful relationships with one another.

COMMUNITY We acknowledge the truth of Australia’s shared histories. We are committed to developing a place of learning where everyone is respected and has a sense of belonging. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, significant events and meaningful experiences will be embedded into curriculum and school life, incorporating truth-telling, perspectives, heritages, stories, voices.

SERVICE We are committed to walking the journey of reconciliation as compassionate change makers who advocate for a future with freedom, dignity and justice for all.

STEWARDSHIP  The Yirrganydji and Djabugay Peoples are the Traditional Custodians of the Land where Holy Cross School is located. We understand and respect the  deep and spiritual  connections of the Yirrganydji and Djabugay Peoples to Country; the mountains, rainforest, waterways, sea and sky.
