At St Augustine’s Catholic Parish Primary School, we take inspiration from the words of St Augustine, our patron saint. We believe that Jesus lived the compassion of God in his love for all people as if there were only one people. Through our Augustinian charism we aspire to ensure that every member of our community shares the desire to foster a mutual respect of, and to form positive relationships between, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people. By providing all students opportunities to be successful through education foster the importance of actively engaging with First Nations peoples’ histories and cultures through our curriculum, prayer, symbols and liturgy. We commit to continuing to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout the curriculum. We recognise our shared past and commit to working towards a shared future in which all people are treated with dignity and respect. We aim to nurture and strengthen our partnerships with all members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and non-Indigenous communities. We desire to walk together to raise awareness of and to drive action towards reconciliation, to strengthen our unity as a community of learners and to lessen prejudice.
