Inverloch Kongwak Primary School (IKPS) recognises the histories and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples . IKPS strives to address the inequalities and inequities faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Â through a holistic educational approach to demonstrate understanding and respect both within the education setting and broader community.Â
IKPS envisions an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and languages are recognised and respected and where everyone knows about, and cares for, the Country on which they live, learn, work and play. IKPS staff are committed to learning alongside children, families and community members as we strengthen our knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories, customs, and languages.
We feel education is the key to change and through education, individuals and groups are empowered  to  understand injustices and work towards shaping a united, reconciled Australia, where all people are valued and have equal and equitable opportunities.  Â
IKPS will create and maintain meaningful and respectful relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities with understanding, knowledge sharing and respect. IKPS will share our journey with the wider community to encourage shared understanding and drive further change towards reconciliation. IKPS commits to developing and maintaining a school environment that acknowledges our nation's true histories and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, and fosters equity, equality and self-determination.
