VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Waverley Meadows Primary School, we envision a future grounded in mutual respect, truth-telling, and deep cultural understanding between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community. We acknowledge and pay our deepest respects to the Bunurong and Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our school stands, and we honour their continuing connection to Country, culture, language and community.

Our vision for reconciliation is one of unity, healing, and empowerment. We are committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families, and staff—particularly those of the Bunurong/Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri/Woi Wurrung people — feel valued, respected, and supported to thrive.

Through genuine partnerships, active listening and shared learning, we will embed First Nations voices, perspectives and knowledges across our school. We aim to foster empathy, challenge stereotypes, and empower all students to become respectful and informed citizens who celebrate the richness of the world’s oldest living cultures.

Waverley Meadows Primary School stands with the community as we acknowledge the truths of the past, commit to justice in the present, and walk together in hope towards a reconciled future for all.
