VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Reconciliation to APS means acknowledging and respecting the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We continue to promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ pedagogies, and build an awareness of cultural responsiveness, to support students, families and staff to build a stronger, more inclusive community and foster a sense of belonging and connection for all. We value and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff, and community members and strive to create a culturally responsive space where all students, particularly Koorie students, feel seen, secure and supported. We are committed to building strong connections with our broader community by engaging with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, groups and community organisations to foster mutual respect and collaboration. We are dedicated to deepening our collective knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and histories. We recognise and uphold the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices in our school community. We support self-determination by involving First Nations perspectives in decision-making processes and valuing this input in shaping our school’s practices and policies. Together, we work towards a future where reconciliation is a lived reality, and every member of our school community contributes to a more inclusive and respectful environment.
