VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Canterbury Primary School, our mission is to cultivate a culturally safe and respectful learning community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all students are proud, and empowered to express their identities. We are committed to nurturing their academic and personal growth through safe, collaborative learning, cultivating shared belonging, in meaningful partnership relationships with our school and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and families of the wider Koorie communities.     We are committed to actively building and sustaining strong, respectful, and enduring relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Elders. Through open dialogue, active listening, and acknowledging First Nations voices within the schools decision-making processes, we ensure our actions honour and reflect the rich traditions, true histories, and vibrant living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.     Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives across our curriculum is fundamental to our approach ensuring that all students develop a deep understanding, respect, and appreciation for First Nations peoples true histories, cultures, and connections to Land and Country. This approach ensures that First Nations peoples ways of knowing, being, and doing is a core component of learning in every classroom.
