Kew Primary Schools vision for reconciliation is an Australia in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are valued, respected and celebrated as an integral part of our national identity. We hope to build a community in which all members are aware of the importance of reconciliation and understand the role that learning about First Nations cultures and identities have on creating a more united nation.Â
We envision all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families having equal and equitable opportunities to learn and grow within our community, through shared experiences and engaging education for all. We seek to provide opportunities for First Nations people to share their histories, cultures and traditions with others, working towards an inter-connected and inclusive Australia.  Â
Our school aims to educate staff and families about First Nations peoples perspectives and the ongoing impacts of colonisation on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. KPS acknowledges the need for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives to be embedded into all areas of our learning and teaching, through meaningful connections, collaboration and reciprocal relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through listening, reading and challenging perspectives, we support a culturally safe, responsive and aware community, in which First Nations cultures and histories stand at the forefront of all planning and delivery of education.  Â
