Bell Primary School

At Bell Primary, on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, we are dedicated to nurturing in our school and community a deep respect, understanding and connection with First Nations peoples. We acknowledge and honour the Wurundjeri Peoples continuing connection to Land and waters and recognise our responsibility to care for and protect this Country.     

We believe education is at the heart of reconciliation. We are committed to engaging in conversations that acknowledge the truths of our shared history and recognise the vast and continuing impact of colonisation.

Our community endeavours to provide a learning and playing environment for our students that is culturally safe and inclusive.  Bell Primary is committed to a number of measures to expand cultural awareness and support First Nations students and staff. We will create opportunities for staff, students, their families and community, to connect with our school in a way that feels safe for them.     

This responsibility to ongoing learning will be reflected in our classes, programs and school policies across all year levels and curriculums.    

We are also committed to cultivating ongoing and meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations in order to actively and respectfully learn and develop greater understanding and embed cultural safety in all we do.    

Through understanding and collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, students and community, we will move with confidence, empathy and joy towards a respectful and inclusive Australia.
