At Thirroul Public School, we recognise that reconciliation begins with truth-telling, learning, and meaningful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.  Â
Our vision for reconciliation is to respectfully embed First Nations perspectives into the heart of our school across classrooms, relationships, and our everyday school life. We are committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment where all students feel a sense of belonging, pride, and connection. Â
Through our Reconciliation Action Plan, we are committed to changing mindsets and helping our school community reconcile with the truth of Australias past. As a school, we will lead by example, creating opportunities for honest, culturally safe conversations and embedding First Nations perspectives across our teaching and learning. We will strengthen relationships with local community and Elders, increase understanding both inside and outside the school gates, and hold ourselves accountable as educators to listen, learn, and improve. Together, we strive to create a school community where culture is celebrated all year round, and where every child feels seen, heard, and safe. Â
We will continue to strengthen our focus on reconciliation by:  Â
Continuing to cultivate relationships with and listening deeply to community and Elders; Â
Encouraging honest conversations about Australias history in ways that are respectful, age-appropriate and grounded in truth. Â
Making First Nations cultures and perspectives part of everyday learning through shared responsibility and regular reflection.Â
Encouraging staff and students to treat others with care and fairness, take ownership of their learning and behaviour, and stand up for a safe and inclusive school community. Â
