At Fairfield West Public School, we acknowledge the Darug Nation, as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our school is built. Our commitment to reconciliation is guided by our school's Strategic Improvement Plan and the three key themes of reconciliation: Relationships, Respect, and Opportunities. By making this commitment, we aim to create a place of teaching and learning that is respectful, culturally inclusive, where aspirations are fostered, diversity is acknowledged and there is a deep understanding and respect of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, histories and perspectives.
We are committed to increasing awareness of the Cabrogal Clan, their cultures and histories, and the contributions made by First Nations Peoples through respectfully embedding Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout our curriculum.
As life-long learners, our students, teachers and families acknowledge that reconciliation is an ongoing journey. We strive to provide a culturally safe learning environment that reflects the values, beliefs and practices of all families, while honouring the histories, traditions and cultures of First Nations peoples. We strive to continue and strengthen our strong and genuine reciprocal relationships with people of the Darug Nation and to advocate for reconciliation.
