VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Northside Montessori, reconciliation means walking together in unity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge that we learn and grow on Dharug Country, and we recognise that this Country has always been, and continues to be, a place of teaching and learning. This statement is our written commitment to continue to honour the enduring connection of Dharug peoples to Country, community, language, and culture.

Guided by Montessori principles of peace and connection, we are committed to building strong, collaborative relationships with Dharug communities. Together, we will learn with, and from, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, being led by their resilience as they reclaim language and culture, carrying forward the knowledge that has always lived within this Country. By making space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, knowledges, and perspectives throughout our learning environment, we will work to create a culturally inclusive and socially just community for all.

We imagine a reconciled future where truth-telling, equity, and unity shape the hearts and minds of every child. Where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contributions are celebrated as a vital part of our shared story, and where reconciliation lives in our actions and relationships for generations to come.

Reconciliation is our continued responsibility, and only with heartfelt action and collaboration can we create lasting change.
