At Burdekin Catholic High School, reconciliation is about acknowledging the past and continued significance of Bindal and Juru Traditional Owners, recognising the impacts of colonisation on the present, and moving positively towards the future as a community. Reconciliation means educating our community through respectfully sharing Traditional Owner histories, cultures, knowledges and understandings, to value and respect their unique perspectives, contributions, and strong connection to, and care for, Country. Burdekin Catholic High School is committed to working in partnership, and under the mentorship of the Traditional Owners and the Gudjuda Reference Group, and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, to facilitate an appreciation of First Peoples cultures for all who live and learn in the Burdekin region.
