Bishop Tyrrell Anglican Preschool's vision for reconciliation is embedded in the fundamental principles our service strives to achieve every day. True reconciliation builds respectful and reciprocal relationships between First Nations peoples and non-Indigenous people. We believe in educating children, educators and families on the histories, perspectives and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities and in doing so we will promote an environment of inclusivity, respect and harmony. We strive to establish and maintain respectful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as we enrich the lives of the children in our early learning service. We commit to providing equal and equitable educational opportunities for both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people and celebrating the diversity of First Nations peoples, culture, histories, and perspectives. We value respectful and inclusive language and terminology related to First Nations perspectives, in particular the Land on which the preschool stands, the Awabakal Land. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we play and learn. Our goal is not to teach, but to ignite the curiosity of children in the oldest living culture on the planet.
