VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Westcare Early Learning Centre Port Adelaide, reconciliation means building meaningful, respectful and genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, grounded in understanding, respect and shared learning.

We acknowledge that early childhood is a powerful time to lay foundations for empathy, inclusion, and respect. We are committed to creating a learning environment where children develop an appreciation for the First Peoples of Australia and their cultures, histories and perspectives, and where diversity is celebrated as a strength.

Reconciliation at Westcare, is reflected in our everyday practices through inclusive curriculum experiences, respectful language, culturally responsive teaching, and strong partnerships with families and the wider community. We strive to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in ways that are authentic, age-appropriate and meaningful, rather than tokenistic.  We recognise the importance of listening, learning, and reflecting as an ongoing journey. We are committed to growing our understanding, supporting equity, equality and fostering a sense of belonging for all children, families, and educators.

Through our commitment to reconciliation, we aim to nurture compassionate, informed and respectful young learners who value fairness, kindness and connection today and into the future.
