VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our Commitment to Reconciliation – TheirCare Ballarat Specialist School

At TheirCare Ballarat Specialist School, we respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn and play — the Wadawurrung People of the Kulin Nation. We honour their enduring connection to Country and pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. We also recognise the rich cultural heritage of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of this nation.

Our vision for reconciliation is rooted in unity, respect and shared understanding. We believe reconciliation must be a living process — one that is felt in our hearts, reflected in our minds, and demonstrated through our actions. We strive to walk alongside First Nations peoples, nurturing a future built on genuine partnerships and mutual respect.

Educators at our service are committed to respectfully and meaningfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across all aspects of our program. Through stories, learning experiences, daily routines and our service philosophy, we actively create opportunities for children to explore and celebrate the cultures, histories and contributions of First Nations communities.

Together with families and children, we continue to strengthen our connection to the Wadawurrung People, guided by principles of truth-telling, inclusion and cultural safety. We aim to foster a strong sense of belonging, identity and respect for all — as part of our shared journey toward reconciliation.
