VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Wildflowers we are committed to providing a quality service where the child is at the heart of everything we do. We believe children are competent, capable and independent learners who flourish to be confident, resilient, and socially connected within our supportive learning environment.

Wildflowers recognises and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the First People of Australia and as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our early childhood service is built upon. We recognise that our relationship with  Noongar people needs to be nurtured and grown with acknowledgement and respect. Our vision for reconciliation at Wildflowers is to engage on both a personal and professional level, in creating conditions that support the ongoing learning and acknowledgement of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture.

Wildflowers Early Learning recognises the deep connections that the Noongar people have with lands and waters with Country and this understanding along with the Froebelian approach contribute to our understanding that the learning environment is a third teacher. We strongly believe that all children should have everyday experiences of engaging in the natural world outdoors, offering rich visual stimuli and hands-on sensory learning experiences.

In actively teaching the children about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, and by integrating these into our daily routines, children will begin to understand and respect the inter-relationships between all people in the community and how they themselves can contribute to preserving a rich cultural history and its deep connection with nature through embedding sustainable practices in their everyday activities.

We believe that through this vision, we are laying the foundations to raise future generations that value and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage as a proud part of our shared identity.
