VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Burnett House Early Learning and Kindergarten, we acknolwedge the Traditional Owners, the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul peoples of the Yugara/Yagara Language group, and we pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present. We recognise their enduring connections to Country, culture, and community, and we honour the rich histories, languages, and traditions that have been cared for and shared for tens of thousands of years.      At the heart of our centre, we honour a journey walked together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples - guided by respect, truth-telling, and unity.  In our daily practice, we strive to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Islander peoples perspectives into our curriculum, play spaces, and celebrations, as we foster cultural safety so that every child, family, and educator feels valued, respected, and has a strong sense of belonging to our centre. We build meaningful relationships with local First Nations communities, listening to and learning from their voices and promote inclusivitiy, ensuring our service reflects the diversity and strength of the First Peoples of Australia.      We believe reconciliation is an ongoing journey - one that requres refelction, action and a willingness to learn. Through our work with children, we aim to nurture empathy, understanding, and a shared commitment to a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples ad cultures are respected.
