At Alpha Kids Academy, our vision for reconciliation is to build a culturally safe and inclusive learning community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives are respectfully embedded in our everyday practices. Guided by Narragunnawalis commitment to reconciliation in education, we recognise this as an ongoing journey that involves continual reflection, meaningful action and collaboration with children, families, educators and our wider community. We aim to foster strong, trusting and sustainable relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly the Dharawal community on whose Land we learn each day. We are committed to working in genuine partnership with local Elders and knowledge holders so their voices, perspectives and cultural knowledge actively inform our pedagogy, programs and decision-making. Our environments and curriculum will reflect a deep respect for diversity and will provide opportunities for all children to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in ways that strengthen identity, belonging and understanding. We acknowledge that embedding these perspectives supports children to view the world through multiple lenses and develop empathy, curiosity and cultural pride. To support this vision, we prioritise ongoing professional learning that builds educators cultural capability, confidence and commitment to reconciliation. By continually developing our own understanding, we are better able to model and share what reconciliation means across our service and help children grow as active, respectful participants in their community. Through these actions, we strive to make reconciliation a visible, embedded and lived part of everyday life at Alpha Kids Academy.
