VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Milestones Early Learning Canungra, we are committed to fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and inclusion by embedding reconciliation in everything we do. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and play and respect their enduring connections to Country, community, and culture.

Our vision for reconciliation is a welcoming and inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives are acknowledged, respected, and embedded in our daily practices. Through meaningful relationships, ongoing learning, and reflective practices, we strive to build a future where all children, families, and educators feel a deep sense of belonging and connection.

We are dedicated to taking real steps toward reconciliation, learning from First Nations voices and respectfully embedding histories and perspectives into our curriculum. We commit to fostering respectful partnerships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. By embracing reconciliation, we aim to create a service that not only acknowledges the past but also contributes to a future built on unity, respect, and shared understanding.

Our reconciliation vision encompasses several key principles. We acknowledge the Yugambeh people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our childcare centre stands and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. We respect the diverse cultures, languages, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and incorporate their perspectives into our curriculum and daily practices. We are working towards safe and supportive spaces for truth-telling and healing, where children, families, and staff members can engage in open and honest conversations about Australia's true histories, injustices, and the ongoing impacts on First Nations peoples since colonisation.
