VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

We at Explorers Early Learning Elgar Road are committed to reconciliation as well as increasing the awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal and The Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.

We acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of the Land on which our centre is built. We envision a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised and celebrated as being the First Nations people in Australia. We wish to continue to learn about their stories, wisdom, traditions, and cultures from the past and present and respectfully share this knowledge and stories with our Explorers community.

We aim to achieve this through our inclusive early childhood programs, environments, curriculum, and daily interactions with our children, educators, and families.

We will be open to new ideas and concepts and encourage critical reflection of our own teaching practices.

We will build meaningful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander community. We will also research and intentionally seek out answers to our questions.

We will embrace all concepts and ideas about reconciliation and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with respect, open hearts and inclusive minds.

A better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures develops an enriched appreciation of Australia’s cultural heritages and can lead to reconciliation. This is essential to the maturity of Australia as a nation and fundamental to the development of an Australian identity.
