Our vision is for reconciliation is to foster a harmonious Australia, inspire unity and understanding between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the wider community, and where all voices are heard and valued. This shared reconciliation journey promotes mutual respect, cultural celebration, and healing, grounded in the recognition of truth and of the First Nations People of Australia and their continued contributions. In education, reconciliation involves creating an inclusive environment that honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories, and perspectives. In our early learning service, this means respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our programs, fostering respect for Country, and supporting children, educators, families and the wider community to understand the importance of cultural diversity and Australia's true history. We recognise the role we play in reconciliation and shaping future generations. Early childhood is a key stage for instilling empathy, respect, and cultural awareness. Committing to reconciliation allows us to contribute to a future where equity, equality, respect, and unity thrive. By engaging in this journey, we support truth-telling, acknowledging past wrongs, and working to build a more inclusive future for everyone. Our vision is shaped by listening to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, whose wisdom and insights have guided us towards genuine partnerships. Their perspectives have deepened our understanding of reconciliation, shifting us from symbolic gestures to meaningful, sustained actions. As a community, we commit to learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures and unlearning biases. This includes integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our curriculum and addressing harmful colonial narratives, fostering a deeper connection to Australias true history.Â
