VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Little Steps Early Learning Epping is committed to walk along the reconciliation path of closing the gap of equity and equality between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians for a fairer and more equitable Australia which acknowledges the rich wisdom, cultures, histories and traditions of its First Nations People.

We recognise the ongoing impacts   caused by colonization to First Nations peoples, cultures and communities. We will advocate the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to actively participate in decisions that affect them and ensure that we are listening to and amplifying the voices of First Nations peoples.

We commit to establish secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships with Elders within our local and the wider community. We seek to further our knowledge and appreciation for the history and culture of the Land on which we gather to play and learn.

We honour the remarkable strength, resilience and tenacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and acknowledge their invaluable contribution in all aspects of what makes Australia unique.

We strive to embed respect for cultural diversity into our daily practices, and we endeavour to

incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across all areas of our curriculum. We believe that cultural safety is paramount and thereby commit to actively seek guidance from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families to reconcile the delivery of our service to uphold their culture, history and traditions. We strive to be culturally responsiveness through our ongoing commitment to developing our cultural knowledge in a three-way process with children, families and communities.  Our goal is to support young children and their families to build on their cultural competence and responsible citizenship. We strive to instil in them a deep respect for the rights of First Nations people and an appreciation of their wisdom, culture, history, traditions and contributions throughout Australia's history.
