At Sparrow Early Learning Centre, our vision for reconciliation is grounded in a deep commitment to cultural safety, inclusion, and respect—where dignity and equity are experienced by all, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise reconciliation as a lifelong journey that requires deep listening, meaningful action, and honest reflection.
Together with our passionate educators, we are embedding reconciliation into every aspect of daily life at our service. Our team undertakes regular cultural awareness and safety training—not only to grow knowledge, but to challenge assumptions and foster genuine understanding.
Reconciliation is both a shared responsibility and a privilege. Guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we are committed to amplifying First Nations voices, weaving cultural perspectives throughout our curriculum, and building respectful relationships with local Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members. We are grateful for the stories and wisdom shared with us and acknowledge these connections as vital to our learning and growth.
We uphold the five dimensions of reconciliation—race relations, equality and equity, institutional integrity, unity, and historical acceptance—across our teaching, relationships, and everyday practice. Through storytelling, music, play, and intentional learning, we help children form respectful connections with the world’s oldest living cultures.
Looking ahead, we will continue to deepen our engagement with community, increase cultural visibility in our environment, and co-create experiences that honour Country and cultural identity. At Sparrow Early Learning Centre, reconciliation is lived—by every child, educator, and family, every day.
