As our service grows, we are committed to embedding culturally safe and responsive practices that honour the voices, identities, and self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise that reconciliation is a shared journey grounded in truth-telling, respectful relationships, and learning on unceded Country.Â
Educators are building their cultural responsiveness through professional and this learning is embedded through storytelling, use of natural materials, meaningful engagement with First Nations resources, and intentional teaching practices that reflect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples ways of knowing, being and doing.Â
We are strengthening relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure our reconciliation work is meaningful and community-informed. Through these partnerships, children experience the deeper connections to culture, Country, and community of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.Â
We are committed to supporting every childs right to feel valued and included. We ensure reconciliation is inclusive, using visual supports, translation of resources and information, and shared events to build awareness of reconciliation and connection with First Nations peoples.Â
Reconciliation at Aitken Hill is not a one-off action but an ongoing commitment to walking together with respect, listening deeply, and creating a culturally safe and inclusive learning community for all.Â
