At Parkside Community OSHC, our vision for reconciliation is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples can come together in unity. We believe in creating environments of respect and dignity for First Nations children and non-Indigenous children to feel culturally represented and safe. We firmly believe that this begins by acknowledging the First Peoples of Australia and celebrating the oldest continuing cultures in the world. Â We continue to create and value a culturally respectful program that provides the opportunity for children, educators and families to learn about, and connect with, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Land upon which Parkside Community OSHC sits, Kaurna Land. We see Kaurna people, culture and perspectives as essential for meaningful education and are committed to embedding First Nations cultures and perspectives within all areas of the curriculum in meaningful and authentic ways, ensuring the opportunities for collaboration with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and listening to their voices. Â We strive to build cultural responsiveness among children, staff and the local community, starting by ensuring educators are confident and knowledgeable in their understanding of, and respect for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Our service resides in the notion that true reconciliation lies within respect, appreciation, and collaborating with the First Nations Peoples. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
