Here at Explorers Early Learning Tarneit we are committed to reconciliation as well as increasing our collective awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultures in our community and wider community.Â
We acknowledge the Boonwurrung Peoples as the Traditional Owners of the Land in which we learn, respect. Â We envision a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised and celebrated as being the Traditional Owners of the Lands across Australia. We continue to learn from their perspectives, histories and cultures and we respectfully share this knowledge and understanding with our Explorers community. Â We achieve this through our inclusive and responsive early childhood programs, environments, curriculum, and daily interactions with our children, educators, and families. We are open to new ideas and concepts and encourage critical reflection of our own teaching practices.Â
We nurture relationships with First Nations community members and seek advice and appropriate knowledge from Elders and their community who may choose to share and educate us about their cultures. We will also research and intentionally seek out answers to our questions. We will work towards reconciliation and value the cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with respect, open hearts and inclusive minds.Â
A better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures develops an enriched appreciation of Australias diverse heritages which leads to a reconciled nation. This is essential to the maturity of Australia as a nation and fundamental to the development of a unified Australian identity.Â
