VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

We are committed to establishing and deepening our collaboration with the Dharawl people who have been teaching and nurturing their children for millions of years on this Land where we now do the same. In doing so we aim to learn from, respect and celebrate their rich, valuable and vibrant culture.     As a centre with a number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the community we strive to achieve a positive race relationship based on mutual trust and respect between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non -indigenous Australians. We strive to create a proud shared centre identity in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and heritages are recognised and valued. We will encourage an honest understanding and acceptance of Australia's history as well as a joint vision of social justice for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples which fosters healing and historical acceptance.      Our vision for reconciliation is to continue building our knowledge and appreciation of the histories, perspectives, and ways of being, doing and knowing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As educators, we are committed to sharing this understanding with children, families, and the broader community.     We aim to achieve this by offering staff meaningful opportunities for professional learning that deepen our understanding of the First Peoples of Australia and guide us in responding to cultural diversity with authenticity and respect. These learning experiences will support us to challenge our own biases, engage in critical reflection, and shape our service into one that places reconciliation at the centre of our everyday practice.
